Daily Objectives
Below are two samples of the anchoring systems and structures that define my classroom practice. Every day my learners enter and look directly at the white board to see what they're doing that day, including their daily warm-up. There isn't a question as to where they begin that day; they sit down, open their notebook, and begin responding to the warm-up prompt. I don't even have to be in the room for my students to be actively working because they know precisely what is expected of them in class. Each day has its own slide with detailed activities, standards, and the lesson objective.
Additionally, the slide deck becomes my hub for materials and links for the lesson. I don't have to go searching for a worksheet or link. I have optimized the Google suite to link everything daily. I know exactly what worksheet they need because it is linked in presenter notes. It also becomes a living, breathing entity as we move from school year to school year. I can review precisely what I did last year and analyze whether it will be effective for the learners in front of me, or if I need to modify it for special learner needs.
Day at a Glance…
Below is a sample and explanation of what a daily agenda slide would look like. The "Presenter notes" bar is shown in the screen shot, indicating linked materials. This is particularly helpful if the instructor is absent. They can adjust the share settings and put the whole slide in google classroom with the linked documents. No more photocopying at the last minute.
